Lower Sacramento and McCloud October 5, 6
Scott W. and his long time friend and now fly fishing partner Matt recently fished two days with us.
One of Matt's beauties!
They set out to fish the Lower Sac and McCloud rivers and despite the rain their good spirits and desire to learn helped them have a great trip. Here is what they had to say about their experience in their own words.
Mike,
Matt and I had a great time! Thanks for your help. The guides you scheduled for our two days of fishing on the Lower Sacramento showed us lots of great fishing. I think we landed around 25, 17" plus Bows. (of course many more looks and hooks were lost due to our slow and untrained hands!)
The highlight of the trip was the second days dry fly fishing. The day started off stormy but, by noon the sun broke out and the Caddis fly started to become plentiful. The morning had been quite fruitful, so in the afternoon we switched our rigs to dry fly in hopes of a little instruction and who knows ...maybe even a bite.
Scott W...the man himself with the result of a well laid cast
On my very first cast I landed a 20" rainbow, but of course not until a good long fight was complete. We ended up fishing this little riffle in the stream for a couple of hours and receiving sores of hits and landing 5 more beautiful fish measuring in the 20's. My arm got so tired from all the fishing action, so we insisted that Greg or guide show us how to do did it. Like the 6'9" kid he is, he was hoopin' and holerin' like the rest of us with fish on in no time!
I'm already looking forward to the next trip already. I attached a few shots for your review. Note the shot where Matt pays tribute to a fine fight one of the Rainbow's provided!
Thanks for the good tips on where to eat, and sleep too! You are a true renaissance man of many skills and knowledge. We appreciate your sharing!
Finally, enjoyed the great Cab. you provided with some long time friends. We toasted to you and the many fish of the Lower Sac.
Cheers!
Scott

Fishing the October Hatch
Truly an epic adventure! I'm sure we ruined Matt for all future fishing he may do. All will pale in comparison!
