The Species:

Rainbow Trout

Almanor rainbows are full of fight. These gorgeous specimen will eat a variety of insects throughout the season from the first of the year all the way to December.

Brown Trout

Almanor has a reputation for some of the largest browns in the state. These predators can be targeted with regularity especially in lower light conditions. Eight pound fish are not uncommon and every year 10 to 12 pounders are landed by our guests.

Smallmouth Bass

Smalleys like their trout counterparts grow to phenomenal size in this prolific fishery. Some of the largest ones we have ever seen have come from this fantastic piece of water. They will readily take nymphs, streamers and even dry flies during Almanor’s fabled Hex hatch.

This is a year round fishery and there is good reason that anglers who know about this sleeper lake come back in search of giants year after year. Give Almanor a try this year, you too can have this opportunity to tangle with the largest browns, rainbows and smallmouth in the state!
