Northern California offers a great deal of fly fishing options for anglers of all skill levels and fly fishing tastes. The Bay and San Joaquin River Delta provides some of the most productive fly fishing here in Northern California.

Allow Off the Hook to connect you with a great day on the water on the Delta for smallmouth and largemouth bass. Whether you are new to fly fishing, or are a world traveled angler, fly fishing for smallmouth puts smiles on faces and brings anglers back time and time again for more.

Delta Species

There are a number of species to be targeted on the Delta. For these trips we do focus predominantly on "smallies" however we often catch largemouth and even striper throughout the course of the day. What these fish lack in size they more than make up for in numbers. Most of fish are 1 to 3 lbs, however larger fish do show up on our flies.

Fly Fishing the Delta

Anglers can expect to fish 4 to 6 weight rods with floating lines and poppers. Having a hungry fish inhale your popper is something we never get tired of. It's down right fun! Even beginner anglers hook and land lots of fish on our guided days. The good news when you loose one...just make another cast: You are going to hook another one!

The Seasons

We target "smallies"May through October, however they can be found virtually year round throughout the San Francisco/San Joaquin River Delta system.

Guided Fly Fishing Rates

Half day smallmouth trips consist of 4 1/2 to 5 hours of guided fishing and instruction, loaner rods, reels, flies and snacks. - $485

Full day smallmouth trips include 8+ hours of guided fly fishing and instruction, loaner rods, reels, flies, snacks and lunch on the water. - $650 

Note: Transportation, alcoholic beverages, licenses and gratuities not included.

Getting Here

We fish out of Vieira's Resort Marina located at 15476 Ca 160, Isleton. Due to the early nature of this fishing you only need one hour of drive time from San Francisco and 45 minutes form the Napa.
