Clear Lake has been long recognized by our conventional gear friends as one of the top bass lakes in the country. Fly fishing has been virtually untapped on this amazing fishery up until now.

The Species:

Largemouth: Clear lake Largemouth average 2-3lbs, with 4-8 lb bass being very common. For a good day anglers can expect 20-30 bass days stripping streamers and topwater poppers. Experienced casters usually do best when targeting the larger fish as precision and being able to cast a good distance come into play.

Crappie: At times it can be hard to keep the crappie off the fly. Crappie in Clear Lake get as big as 2 lbs+. We have had some really great results with one experienced angler targeting bass, and another newer angler targeting crappie. Crappie are a great option for kids, beginners or anyone who likes catching good numbers of fish. Sixty - 70 crappie in a day can be relatively a easy achievement. Bass are also caught all the time while targeting Crappie.

Carp and Catfish: Never know what your going to have on the end of your line on Clear Lake and Carp and Catfish pull really hard when hooked on flies.

The Seasons:

There are year round opportunities to catch fish on Clear Lake, however June through early October are considered prime time when it comes to targeting fish on the fly.

Half Day: $485
(4-5 hours) 1-2 anglers 

Dawn Patrol Topwater: $425(4 hours) 1-2 anglers 

Evening Bite: $425(4 hours) 1-2 anglers 

We are happy to provide rods and reels for those who would like us to do so at no additional charge. 

We can accommodate 2 to 3 boat trips with ease with a little bit of advanced notice. 

Getting Here: (Red Bud Park Boat Launch)

From San Francisco: Head north from the Golden gate on Highway 101 to Mark West Springs Rd. Exit #494(53.9 Miles)
Head East on Mark West for 11 miles. Turn Left on Petrified Forest Rd. Turn left on Ca #128 and go .8 mile and turn right on Tubbs Lane and go 1.3 Miles. Turn left onto CA-29 N and go 31.3 miles to Lakesore Drive. Go .3 mile and Redbud boat launch will be on your left near Clear Lake Bait and Tackle. 

From Sacramento:
Head North on I 5 to CA-20 W/State Hwy 20 W in Williams. Take exit #578 and continue 27 miles. Turn left onto CA-53 S and continue 4.5 miles. Turn right on Lakeshore Dr. and Redbud Park Boat Launch will be on your left .8 mile up.

Note: Boats wishing to fish clear lake require a monthly inspection at a cost of $20
