Ok, so Spring has officially sprung (for real this time) and there is quite a bit of fishing to be had. Here is the skinny on whats going on here in Northern California.

Best Bets: Lower Sacramento, McCloud River, Putah Creek - Trout, Feather River - Steelhead, Sierra foothill Lakes - Bass, Lake Almanor - Trout and Bass, Pyramid Lake - Giant Cutthroat

Best Bets: McCloud, Upper/Lower Sac, McCloud, Truckee or Putah – Trout, Delta - Striper, Feather, Klamath and Trinity - Steelhead, and Pyramid Lake - Cutthroat.

American River Steelhead - Poor to Fair but improving. Flows – 2,000 CFS at Natomas. – high 50's to low 60. Water clarity – Good.

Fall arrived in the high country this week... Best Bets, Hat Creek or Pit River – Trout, Delta - Striper, Swinging on the Trinity or Feather – Steelhead.

American River Striper - Poor. Steelhead - Poor but improving. Flows – 3,500 CFS at Natomas. – high 50's to low 60. Water clarity – Good.

Cooler weather signals the end of striper fishing on the American at least for the larger non resident fish. It has been a good year here for striper so we can’t complain.

American River- Fair Flows are low and temps - high 50’s but fishable. (575CFS)

USGS reports flows are at 575 CFS and climbing. The recent rain should help continue this trend and bring fresh fish into the system.
