Glen's personal best: A nice Feather River Steelhead

I fished with David from Dallas, TX on July 31st who was in town for a wedding and only had a half day free to chase fish, so we went to Putah to maximize his time on the water. david was a good fisherman, and after he got back into the rythm of fly casting, he began hooking fish. We found the fish in the fast water and had best success tight line nymphing with flashback pheasant tails in sz 16 and a LOT of weight, as many as 6 BB size shot at times. Daviud managed to let all the big fish go early in the fight, but still landed several nice rainbows.

Fished the Feather River @ Oroville today. 13 steelhead to 9 pounds to the net with one client in the boat. Sucker spawn in yellow and sz 14 PT's were the flies of choice. Good bite all day, most grabs were on the rise at the end of the drift.
